How to Graph Narrative Structure
Page 123 of Robert McKee's "Structure and Meaning" gives us a model for how to graph the structure of a narrative, which could be scaled out to include just major events in the wide arc of the narrative, or it could be scaled in to reveal the structure of a group of chapters, a single chapter, a section, or even a paragraph.
To complete the graph, you can simply reproduce one of the three figures below in a drawing on a piece of paper. Once it is completed, simply take a picture of it and then embed it into your first reading.
Notice that in McKee's graphs, all the details of a particular narrative are missing, which you will need to supply, together with the positive [+] or negative [-] sign.
And so, in your graph, you are to write out and place in the appropriate spot:
